A film depicting North Koreans' escape from their impoverished homeland will screen in South Korea soon, its production company said Wednesday.

The film, titled "48M," was co-financed and co-produced by a group of seven or eight defectors, including Ahn Hyeok and Go Yeong-hwan, according to Han Entertainment in Seoul.

The title of the movie was taken from a 48-meter-wide strip, the narrowest part of the Yalu River that runs along the North Korea-China border and used by North Korean defectors as a route of escape, the company said.
