Security at Gimpo Int’l Airport to be bolstered during Asian Games

South Korea will bolster security at Gimpo International Airport during the 17th Asian Games which is set to open on Sept. 19 for a 16-day run, the Korea Airports Corp. said Tuesday. Gimpo is located near Incheon, the venue of the Games.

The level of security at the airport has already been raised from “caution” to “alert” to prevent possible terror attacks during the Games, the corporation said. Also included in the heightened security measures is the strengthening of security inspection for passengers and cargoes. Shoes and overcoats worn by all passengers will under an X-ray inspection, it said.
