SEOUL -- Helped by brisk sales at overseas units, Posco posted a 20.1 percent increase in its second-quarter net profit. The world's fifth-largest steel company revised up this year's sales target to 64.1 trillion ($56.7 billion) from an earlier projection of 61.9 trillion won.
Posco said in a regulatory filing Monday that in the April-June period, consolidated net profit rose to 636.6 billion won from 530.1 billion won a year earlier. Second-quarter operating profit was up 27.9 percent on-year to 1.25 trillion won and sales increased 7.6 percent to 16.08 trillion won.
Posco said its affiliates in Indonesia and India posted record quarterly operating profits.
