SEOUL -- South Korea's state mint will use its advanced anti-forgery technology to develop new chips for a state-run casino. Each casino has a unique set of chips. The security features of casino chips are numerous with certain chips incorporating innovative technology to prevent forgery.
A memorandum of understanding was signed Monday between the Korea Minting and Security Printing Corporation and Grand Korea Leisure (GKL), a public entity that operates Seven Luck, a foreigners-exclusive casino.
Casino chips should not be forged or modified. The accord calls for the development of new chips with enhanced security, and the state mint will use three-dimensional security technology and special sensitive materials applied to regular currency.
