SEOUL -- To strengthen a lineup of PC online games, Kakao Games, the game operator of South Korean web service giant Kakao, forged a publishing deal with Bluehole, the creator of "PLAYERUNKNOWN'S BATTLEGROUNDS" (PUBG), one of the world's most popular multi-player games.
Kakao Games said in a statement on Friday that it has won the rights for the operation of "A:IR", a massive multi-player online role-playing game (MMORPG) created by Bluehole, in South Korea. Kakao Games previously won publishing rights for the operation of the online game in North America and Europe in 2016.
A:IR is in closed beta service, the last process of commercializing a PC online game. "By forging an alliance with Bluehole, which has proven its ability to develop and sell top-notch PC online games, we will continue to provide fun and enjoyable services to gamers through A:IR," Kakao Games CEO Cho Kye-hyun was quoted as saying.
Kakao Games operates about 10 games -- three PC online games and seven smartphone games -- including PUBG and Black Desert, a PC MMORPG popular in North America and Europe.
