SEOUL -- At an international trade show this week, the medical equipment affiliate of Samsung Electronics unveiled an ergonomic chair-type ultrasound system that provides comfortable experiences for doctors and patients.

Samsung Medison said that "HERA I10", a chair-type ultrasound system, was showcased at the 28th World Congress of the International Society of Ultrasound in Obstetrics & Gynecology (ISUOG) that began Sunday in Singapore,

HERA I10's ergonomic chair automatically puts a patient in a perfect position to receive an ultrasound examination and provides doctors with real-time ultrasound scanning images, it said.

Conventional ultrasound machines normally require a patient or a pregnant mother to lie on a flat clinical bed while a doctor leans over to examine with a transducer probe. The patient has to move and change the position for more accurate results but it is an uncomfortable process for heavily wounded patients and many pregnant mothers.

"HERA I10 provides a comfortable experience for both the doctor and the patient by addressing the discomfort caused by the spacing and the position of the clinicians," Samsung said. The chair-type system is based on "HEAR W10", a premium ultrasound platform featuring fast data transfer and high-resolution images.
