SEOUL -- An animal rights group threatened to sue a famous venture entrepreneur known for the development of a giant manned walking robot for forcing employees to kill hens with a Japanese samurai sword or a compound bow at a company workshop.

South Korea's online communities were cornered into a shock on Tuesday when Newstapa, an independent news outlet, released video clips showing Yang Jin-ho, chairman of the online file-sharing service operator, WeDisk, who controls Korea Future Technology (K-Technology), beating his former employee brutally.

One clip showed Yang insulting employees who hesitated to kill hens with a Japanese samurai sword and a compound bow. "Are you kidding? You idiot!" he shouted at a male worker who could not draw a bow. He also laughed and shouted, "Hit the neck!", when another employee cut down a live hen thrown into the air.

Park So-youn, president of the Coexistence of Animal Rights on Earth (CARE) said in a statement Wednesday that it would sue Yang for violating an animal protection law, accusing him of killing hens for "entertainment."

Yang received global attention in December 2016 when the video of a four-meter-tall manned bipedal robot developed by K-Technology went viral. He faces an investigation into allegations that his file-sharing company overlooked the distribution of revenge pornography.
