SEOUL -- South Koreans picked BTS as the most outstanding figure in this year's K-pop scene, followed by TWICE, a nine-member girl band, according to a survey.
BTS won 24.4 percent in a Gallup Korea survey of 4,200 people who were asked to select three favorite South Korean artists or groups. The band became the highest-ranked K-pop act in Billboard's weekly popular albums chart and songs chart.
"BTS is writing a new history in the global and South Korean music scene," Gallup Korea said in a statement, adding a majority of votes came from teenaged girls. The second most favorite was TWICE, which garnered 11 percent, followed by IU, a female solo singer.
The most popular song of 2018 was "DDU-DU DDU-DU", a hip-hop track released by BLACKPINK in June, which received five percent. BTS' "IDOL" and "FAKE LOVE" garnered 4.4 percent and 4.1 percent respectively.
