SEOUL --  LG Electronics has released "LG Gram 2-in-1", a 14-inch laptop with a 360-degree rotating screen, in South Korea and the United States.

LG Gram is the company's signature ultra-lightweight laptop brand. Its 13-inch and 14-inch models weigh less than a kilogram (2.2 pounds) while the 15-inch model weighs about 1.3 kilograms.

LG said in a statement Tuesday that its new 14-inch 2-in-1 laptop harnesses the ultra-lightweight trait of its brother models with a weight of about 1.1 kilograms. It can be used as a normal laptop or users can rotate its touch-screen display 360 degrees to use it as a tablet PC.

LG Gram 2-in-1 is installed with Intel's high-performance eighth-generation quad-core processor and a solid state disk drive (SSD) with faster data transfer speed than conventional hard disk drives (HDDs). The 2-in-1 laptop comes with a stylus pen which offers 4,096 levels of pressure sensitivity and tilt control. The stylus' ability to pick up delicate changes in pressure makes it ideal for graphic design works.

LG said the new laptop has passed the U.S. Military Standard's laboratory experiments aimed at finding out if a device or equipment is fit to survive harsh environments such as high pressure, low temperature and sand and dust throughout its service life.

2-in-1 laptops produced by makers such as Lenovo, Dell and HP are pulling the stagnant global PC market, which has been heavily affected by big-screen smartphones. According to Market Future Research, an Indo-based market research firm, the global 2-in-1 laptop market will reach 3.2 billion in 2022.
